About the Book
Hollywood hath no fury like a woman scorned. In this fun, flirty second-chance romance from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, an aspiring starlet reconnects with her first love.
“Sawyer Bennett never fails to deliver heroes I fall hard for and heroines I adore.”—Violet Duke
Eden Goodnight went to Los Angeles to make it big, not to be publicly humiliated by her cheating fiancé at a red-carpet premiere. But when Eden returns to her hometown to put the scandal behind her, she can barely find a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Turns out the locals are worse than the paparazzi, and they all think she’s turned into a spoiled brat. But in a strange twist of fate, the one person who seems to understand what Eden’s going through is Cooper Mayfield . . . the boy she left behind.
Small-town charm is no match for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. At least that’s what Coop’s been telling himself all these years. As Eden’s old flame—and the landscaper for her family’s historic home—Coop feels some responsibility for getting her out of her funk. But as soon as he sees that million-dollar smile, he’s a goner. Soon they’re making out like teenagers again. But when a life-changing role falls into Eden’s lap, Coop just hopes she doesn’t give up on a love that’s meant to be.
Jilted by Sawyer Bennett is book two in her Love Hurts series, and it is a fun, contemporary romance that will have you believing in second chances (and thirds), and completely smiling with how sweet the ending is.
Eden Goodnight left her small-hometown of Newberry, Georgia to pursue modeling and acting, but most of all, she left her first love, Cooper Mayfield, who broke up with her when a long distance relationship became too hard. Now, an Oscar-award winning actress, and the “It” girl in Hollywood, Eden is now engaged to be married. When she learns of her fiancée’s infidelity in the middle of the red carpet, she soon finds herself going back to her family home, Goodnight House, to wait out the gossip and embarrassment. However, home is not as comforting as she thought it would be and an unwelcome surprise in the form of Coop Mayfield is waiting for her home.
Cooper Mayfield is a landscaper, who took over his father’s business, after his father passed away. Living in Goodnight House, he is surprised when Eden Goodnight walks back into his life. Soon he and Eden are living under the same roof and old feelings he thought were buried are alive and kicking. Soon he and Eden are getting to know each other again and falling in love, but when the reality of Eden’s life as an actress comes back to haunt them will history repeat itself?
I enjoyed Sawyer Bennett’s Jilted. The first half with Eden and Cooper at odds with each other especially in regards to Goodnight House, and Coop’s unknown hurts and misconceptions towards Eden, made me think of the movie Sweet Home Alabama and the characters of Melanie and Jake. The moments in the beginning with finding out they’ll be living together were fun and humorous. I also liked Missy, the owner of Missy’s Cupcake Gallery and an old high school classmate. Missy and Eden have a good friendship within the story that I enjoyed and found added to the story as well, especially as a good break from the steamy chapters of Eden and Cooper. I even liked Colleen, especially at the end of the novel. She got a high-five from me for her stunt with the airport. To find out what I mean, I definitely recommend reading the book.
Overall, Jilted by Sawyer Bennett is an enjoyable novel that is fun, hot, and full of romance. I loved the characters of Eden and Cooper and how great they were together as a couple. I very much recommend this novel and can’t wait to read more from Ms. Bennett.
